Hi!
Welcome and thank you for stopping by my blog Tickling Palates.
I’m Radhika Subramanian - Wife and Mother of 2 boys. I'm a Commerce Graduate. My husband is an Engineer by profession and together we run our manufacturing business for food industry. Both my sons are studying to become Chartered Accountants (CA).
I live in Chennai, India and I hail from Kumbakonam, known as the Land of Temples.
As I had a full time working mother, I think I started learning to cook right from an early age, say 11 or 12 in an effort to help her. Food has always been a source of sustenance to me till I had my own kids.
I believe that once you have kids, the entire perspective on life and food changes. At least it did for me.
I started looking out for healthy and easy recipes to cook food to make meal times more interesting for them.
Both my boys happen to be foodies and are my best critic. While my elder son is the most adventurous foodie of the family and likes to experiment a lot when it comes to trying out new recipes.
Whereas my younger son is the hardest to please, a picky eater right from when he was a toddler but has come a long way.
I started “Tickling Palates” in the year 2008 on a hot summer day in the month of May.
I started the blog to keep track of my cooking adventures in the kitchen and to share my passion with like minded foodies around the world.
After more than a decade, what started out as a hobby has become my creative outlet and I simply love how much the blog has grown now.
All the recipes in the blog are tried and tested by all of us at home as we are a family who prefer to eat at home. We almost never eat out or order in.
I try to share the recipes in a detailed way with the help of stepwise photos or by videos which helps to understand the recipe more visually.
When you follow the recipes exactly, even if you are a novice at cooking, your efforts in the kitchen will be very much appreciated by all your loved ones after tasting your dish.
What recipes you can find in Tickling Palates?
I grew up a vegetarian and eggs were not part of our day to day vegetarian diet.
I started cooking eggs only for my children's sake when I was advised to make eggs a part fo their diet.
You will find lots of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free recipes in the blog to help with your day to day cooking. You will also find a lot of eggless baking recipes and few egg recipes.
In my opinion everyone must learn to cook, regardless of gender. My favourite quote is also something I happen to strongly believe is...
"When it comes to cooking, it's a skill you learn and develop" - Ainsely Harriott
