Last month I got an email asking me if I would be able to attend a blogger meet at E-Hotel, which happens to be the only luxury vegetarian boutique hotel in Chennai and I readily agreed as it was only vegetarian. Our Favorite Video:
Entrée, a global Cuisine Restaurant that serves 100% Vegetarian with both À la carte & Buffet for all the three meals.
Elixir Lounge Bar – Elixir serves both food & beverage in the bar, serves the best fresh fruit Cocktails & Mocktails in the city. It has separate Private Dining Room inside the lounge bar for exclusive private parties.
We started the Lunch Buffet with Spicy Corn Veg Soup and for Appetisers were served Paneer Tikka and Cheese Croquettes.
The tikkas were delicious and everyone went for a second helping. The texture was bang on and it was really delicious. I could actually eat them for all three meals of the day.
Next was Salads which comprised of
- FRUIT SALAD
- CORN & CHEESE SALAD
- GRILLED VEG SALAD
- ALOO CHAAT
- THENGA MANGA SALAD
- PESTO TOMATO SALAD
I chose fruit salad, grilled veg salad and pesto tomato salad. All 3 were so good. The veggies in the grilled veg salad were so crisp and crunchy. I was afraid that the pesto might be over powering but it was not and I was quite surprised myself when I loved it to the core. The ingredients were all fresh and full of flavours.
We then progressed on to the Main Course and it compromised of food catering to all comprising of South Indian, North Indian and Continental.
- VEG BIRIYANI
- BEANS PORIYAL
- DRUMSTICK SAMBAR
- STEAMED RICE
- CURD RICE
- SATRANGI SUBZI
- PANEER BUTTER MASALA
- BAINGAN SHIMLA MIRCHI
- DAL BUKHARA
- PAPAD KI SUBZI
- TANDOORI ROTIS
- BABY CORN TEMPURA
- SAPO VEG DUMPLINGS
- GOLDEN ONION FRIED RICE
- VEG HAKKA NOODLES
- COUNTRY VEGETABLES
- PASTA IN ALFREDO SAUCE
While going for Buffet I mostly prefer only North Indian food, so except for Veg Biryani, I avoided the rest. The show stealer in North Indian was the papad ki subzi, it was amazing.
In the continental section, both hakka noodles and baby corn tempura were excellent and went hand in hand. The country vegetables went well with the pasta. The show stealer was of course the pasta in Alfredo sauce. It was amazing and the fact that I witnessed a foreigner came in for second and third helpings for the pasta. So that speaks for itself.
The first thing that I noticed was that none of the gravies had a staggering amount of oil floating on top of it. Even the biryani and the noodles were non greasy. The salt level in the food reminded me of home cooked food. It does not leave you thirsty and make you reach for a glass water often. The spice level was just right too. It was neither bland nor hot enough to make your eyes water. It was perfection personified.
The desserts section was equally amazing and comprised of
- STRAWBERRY MOUSSE
- MOCHA PANNA COTTA
- KIWI PASTRY
- LAVA CAKE
- MANGO PASTRY
- GULAB JAMUN
- KESARI BATH
- THREE TYPES OF ICE CREAMS – Mango, strawberry and Chocolate.
I had a little bit of all the desserts and here too I was amazed at the sweetness being just right. The Strawberry Mousse, as we were informed was made with real fruit and had none of the artificial, chemical flavour to it. It was too good to describe.
The Panna Cotta was so creamy that it simply melted away in your mouth. The Lava cake was just right that you could actually taste the bitterness of the chocolate. The prize goes to Kesari Bath. The texture was simply astounding and it was neither crumbly and bland nor too sweet dripping of syrup.
But I was really disappointed with the ice cream. I love them and opted for strawberry ice cream and till the last spoon I kept biting into ice crystals. It was not creamy enough.
The service was flawless, impeccable and unobtrusive and we all had a great time. I’m not at all surprised to hear that E-Hotel has been awarded with ‘Travelers Choice’ of Tripadvisor, ‘Stellar performance’ by Make my trip and Zomato user choice award for Entrée Restaurant.

I had received a Asus Zenfone 2 Laser mobile last month for reviewing. I had always to upgrade my mobile that will take awesome to share in Instagram and I must say that I have hit jackpot with this mobile. Its totally feature rich I say. I took the mobile for a test drive to the hotel and all the above food pictures are clicked using Zenfone 2 Laser.
Asus Zenfone 2 Laser comes with a primary 13 MP camera with laser autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash and a 5MP secondary camera. The laser auto-focus technology, lets you to take near-instant focus snaps even in low light conditions. This technology even accelerates close-up photography.
The lighting was very low and subdued inside the restaurant but still it took awesome snaps without me having to turn on the flash, which I really hate. As it is a 5.5 inch screen mobile it gives you ample coverage area too.
There is also a manual feature in the phone’s camera which is at par with that of a DSLR. Can you believe it? It totally floored me. So if you are a person who concentrates on mobile photography and wanting to share all such sweet moments in the social media, then this is the mobile for you. I will definitely recommend you to get one for yourself.
