Ingredients
  

  • Basmati rice - 1 cup
  • Broccoli Florets - 1/4 cup
  • Peas - 2 tbsp fresh or frozen
  • Water - 1+1/2 cup
  • Onion - 1 medium
  • Green chilies - 3
  • Ginger - 1/4 inch piece
  • Cloves - 2
  • Bay leaf - 2 small
  • Cinnamon - 1/2 inch piece
  • Black pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander leaves - few sprigs
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 3 tsp



Instructions
 

Preparation:

  • Slice the onions thinly. Grate the ginger and slit the green chili length wise.
  • Wash basmati rice once and soak in enough water for 15 mins.

How to make Broccoli Pulao:

  • Heat a pressure cooker with oil.
  • Add cinnamon, cloves and bay leaf and cook for few seconds till you get the aroma.
  • Add onions, ginger, green chili and saute over low flame till the onion become translucent.
  • Add broccoli florets, peas, black pepper powder and mix well.
  • Drain basmati rice into a colander and add the rice to the cooker and mix gently.
  • Add water, salt, coriander leaves and give a final mix.
  • Pressure cook over medium low flame for 1 whistle.
  • Switch off the stove and wait for the pressure to release on its own.
  • Open the cooker and fluff gently with a fork to mix evenly.
  • Broccoli Pulao is ready.
  • Serve hot with any raita or pickled onions.
