Stack 3 to 4 bread slices and using a sharp knife cut them in 1 inch thickness lengthwise.
Further cut into 1 inch thick cubes or bite sized pieces.
Gather all the pieces in a bowl and keep aside.
Heat a pan with oil.
Add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
Add urad dal and roast for a few seconds till it becomes golden in color.
Add thinly sliced onions, curry leaves and sauté till it becomes translucent.
Add tomato sauce, red chili powder, salt and mix well.
Add 2 to 3 tbsp water and cook over medium flame for the raw smell to disappear.
After 1 or 2 mins, the mixture will thicken considerably and the oil will start to float on top.
Add the bread cubes and toss well for the gravy to coat well.
Cook over low flame while tossing and mixing for 1 to 2 mins.
Bread upma is ready. Take off stove.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
