How to freeze fresh strawberries at home with step by step pictures.
The best way to preserve strawberries for longer duration and use is to freeze them. Every year the strawberries we used to get during the season were very tart. One can only wonder if they are really strawberries or red colored lemons judging by the taste of it.
My kids though never like eating strawberries as such as they can’t find the flavor. They are so much used to the artificial flavoring that I believe they have to taken to it thinking it’s the original.
This year I was lucky enough to get strawberries from the farms of Mahabaleshwar and oh boy they were neither too tart nor sour but tasted just right. The rates were also very competitive.
So is it any wonder that I wanted to freeze some of them for later use to be used during the summer as the strawberry season is almost is at an end.

Freezing fruits is a very simple and an easy process especially strawberries. These are tender fruits that needs immediate caring, which means you just cannot place a pack inside the refrigerator and keep treating it like an eye candy or a fridge accessory reveling in its beauty and hoping that it will last for a fortnight or more.
They spoil so quickly and one way to make them last longer for later use is to freeze them.
How to freeze strawberries at home:
1. Wash strawberries well. Discard any tender or bruised berries.
2. Drain them well in a colander. If you wish you can also spread them on a clean cloth to air dry them.
3. Hull the strawberries by making an incision under the stem part and gently pull it away.
4. Spread them on a clean, dry tray leaving enough space between each fruit. Let it air dry for 20-30 mins and then place the tray in the freezer overnight or for a day.
5. Transfer the frozen strawberries into a zip lock cover or freezer bags and freeze them for later use.

Nice tip Radhika. Even my sons do not like Stawberries as such. So need to add sugar and make it a milkshake.
